Our original brief meaning and reflection accompany the Sanskrit below.
Context, Sanskrit and lesson transcript
Arjuna continues his request. He wants to look at the warriors on the opposing side.
योत्स्यमानानवेक्षेऽहं य एतेऽत्र समागताः।
धार्तराष्ट्रस्य दुर्बुद्धेर्युद्धे प्रियचिकीर्षवः॥२३॥
Brief meaning, in our own words. Arjuna wishes to see those gathered to fight and to please Dhritarashtra’s son, whom he describes as ill-minded.
The son meant here is Duryodhana. The judgment belongs to Arjuna’s speech within the story. We should keep the speaker’s words distinct from our own explanation.
Here is our everyday reflection. When describing a conflict, separate what you can observe from what you assume about another person. This can make your next question more honest.
