Context, Sanskrit and lesson transcript
Sanjaya names the conches of Krishna, Arjuna and Bhima.
पाञ्चजन्यं हृषीकेशो देवदत्तं धनञ्जयः।
पौण्ड्रं दध्मौ महाशङ्खं भीमकर्मा वृकोदरः॥१५॥
Brief meaning, in our own words. Krishna sounds Panchajanya, Arjuna sounds Devadatta, and Bhima, known for mighty deeds, sounds his great conch, Paundra.
Hrishikesha is a name of Krishna, Dhananjaya a name of Arjuna, and Vrikodara a name of Bhima. Bhima and Bhishma are different people.
Here is our everyday reflection. Give people the care of learning their names and roles. Clear attention helps us avoid confusing one person’s responsibility with another’s.
