Context, Sanskrit and lesson transcript
Sanjaya describes what Arjuna sees between the two armies.
Brief meaning, in our own words. Arjuna sees father figures and grandfathers, teachers, maternal uncles, brothers, sons, grandsons and friends. Fathers-in-law and well-wishers stand in both armies.
The passage names relationships across the assembled forces. We should not turn these relationship categories into invented identities or claim that every person is Arjuna’s direct relative.
Here is our everyday reflection. When disagreement becomes a contest between sides, remember the people involved. Their relationships, responsibilities and feelings deserve attention too.
