Context, Sanskrit and lesson transcript
Seeing his relatives assembled, Arjuna is deeply moved. Sanjaya describes the change in him.
तान्समीक्ष्य स कौन्तेयः सर्वान्बन्धूनवस्थितान्॥२७॥
कृपया परयाविष्टो विषीदन्निदमब्रवीत्।
Brief meaning, in our own words. Arjuna looks at his kinsmen standing there. Overcome with great compassion and sorrow, he begins to speak.
Kaunteya means the son of Kunti and refers to Arjuna. This is the transition into his account of distress. His words begin in the next verse.
Here is our everyday reflection. When a strong feeling arises, give yourself a moment to recognise it. Listening carefully to distress can be the beginning of a truthful conversation.
