Teaching film · Sanskrit · Everyday reflection

Our original brief meaning and reflection accompany the Sanskrit below.

Context, Sanskrit and lesson transcript

Arjuna returns to the lasting damage he believes the destruction of families would cause.

दोषैरेतैः कुलघ्नानां वर्णसङ्करकारकैः।
उत्साद्यन्ते जातिधर्माः कुलधर्माश्च शाश्वताः॥४३॥

Brief meaning, in our own words. He argues that the wrongs of those who destroy families, bringing about the varna sankara he fears, would uproot longstanding duties of social groups and families.

These concerns belong to Arjuna’s argument within the passage’s inherited social framework. Our brief meaning retains that setting. It does not present every historical social distinction as a rule for life today.

Here is our everyday reflection. Ask which shared responsibilities help people live with dignity. Strengthen those responsibilities through fair treatment, care and dependable action.
